Community Cable TV Advisory Committee
West Brookfield Community Cable TV Advisory Committee (abbreviated to Cable Advisory Committee or CAC), is a three-member, volunteer committee appointed by the Board of Selectmen. It is charged with providing a wide range of advice on policy, administration and operations of broadcasting content in support of Public, Education and Government (PEG) with respect to the conditions, franchise fees and capital grants received from our cable television provider.
Charter/Spectrum is the cable subscription provider in Town, and in exchange for the franchise to operate here, a ten-year, renewable contract is regularly negotiated. This contract outlines the PEG funding and the broadcasting obligations for the Cable Advisory Committee to operate within. The most recent contract expired January, 2024. Renewal negotiations for a new contract have begun.
The broadcast studio is on the third floor of Town Hall at 2 East Main Street. The Committee meets at least once a month, usually on Wednesday evenings in the studio. We are recently filled our committee vacancy, and could use more members for future support and direcvtion. We will soon be seeking candidates for staffing the studio operations.
