Highway Department - Snow Plow Contractor

 

The West Brookfield Highway Department is seeking a contractor or individual with their own equipment to assist with town-wide snow and ice removal operations for the 2025–2026 winter season.

The season runs from November 1 through April 15. Applicants must have their own 6-wheel truck (14,000 - 16,500 GVW) equipped with a 9-foot plow and a 2–3 cubic yard spreader.

Highway Department – Full Time Operator/Laborer/Driver

The Town of West Brookfield Highway Department is seeking a full time Operator/Laborer/Driver. This position performs manual labor, operates and maintains equipment for the construction, operation and maintenance of town roads and maintains town owned facilities.

Minimum requirements: High school diploma or graduate equivalent degree or be in the process of obtaining either one.  Three years of construction, snow plowing and maintenance experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess current and valid Massachusetts Class B CDL license with an airbrake endorsement as well as current motor carrier medical examiners certificate (DOT card).  Must have a working knowledge of tools, equipment and procedures used in automotive repair work and the ability to perform equipment repair and maintenance.  Must be able to demonstrate mechanical repair ability including welding, common knowledge of hydraulic and engine repair and maintenance with the ability to acquire required equipment certificates. This is a full time, 40 hour a week position that includes overtime for snow/ice removal or emergencies.  Pay is commensurate with experience.

Water Department - Full Time Water Operator

The West Brookfield Water Department is accepting applications for a full time (40 hours/week) Water Operator.  The operator will work under the Water Superintendent.  The water operator shall be responsible for the maintenance, repair and operation of water treatment plants, pumping stations, storage tanks, wells, hydrants, valves, water mains and services.  Routine facility maintenance such as mowing and snow removal is also required.  This is  an overtime eligible position and emergency response for water system issues should be expected.

Applicants must have a high school diploma and a valid Massachusetts Driver's license.  Preference will be given to applicants holding current massachusetts Grade 2 or higher drinking water operators licenses in good standing for treatment and distribution.   Applicants without water operator licenses must obtain both treatment and distribution licenses within 6 months of hire.

Water Department - Part-time Water Operator

The West Brookfield Water Department is accepting applications for a part time (weekends, holidays) Water Operator.  The Operator will work under the Water Superintendent.  The Water Operator shall be responsible for the maintenance, repair and operation of the water treatment plants, pumping stations, storage tanks, wells, hydrants, valves, water mains and services.
